Fiber Paintings

By exploring and pushing the boundaries of knitting, sewing, and weaving, I create pieces that address women's traditional craft in a modern context. For these "fiber paintings" I use recycled and/or discarded materials including wool, cotton, silk, and leather. Inspired by local tide pools and as well as satellite photography, these works seek to highlight the beauty and humanistic quality of fiber materials, connect with nature, and inspire quiet, focused meditation.  I am drawn to, and inspired by, the work of Claudy Jongstra, Sheila Hicks, and Ruth Asawa, among many others.

Commissions welcome.
